I love these bowls. I also have the more popular mixing bowls with lips. However, I wanted bowls with lids, so I was considering purchasing the coordinating lids. I also have one of the ribbed bowls, and I've always liked the shape better. So I decided to replace my old mixing bowls with these. The same size ribbed bowl takes up less space and is also lighter than the other ones. I also feel the shape is better for mixing. I'm including a photo that shows the width difference. Keep in mind that the biggest ribbed bowl is actually a larger volume, yet it takes up less space! Some might prefer the lips for ease of picking up the bowls, but I don't find these any more difficult to pick these up. You can also see that these bowls weigh less. I weighed both sets stacked together. They are still heavy duty, but easier to lift. Yes, these bowls are blue, and I'm not sure why previously manufactured bowls are not. It doesn't bother me though, so that doesn't factor into my review.I have had a set of these for approximately 20 years, I just dropped and broke the smaller one which I use a lot, so I decided to purchase another set and was pleased that it came with 4 bowls instead of 3, and they had a larger one than what I had. Very pleased with these, I use them all of the time, and like I said, I had my first set of 20 years or more.I have two older sets of these ribbed PYREX MIXING BOWLS. Mine are clear in color and fit in well with my PYREX kitchen "arsenal", however a few of my bowls have developed scratched interiors and a nick or two on the rims. So now's the TIME to replace the damaged ones.I ordered this eight piece CLEAR set of PYREX MIXING BOWLS (Blue and Purple lids) from Amazon. They arrived promptly, but to my surprise, when the package was opened, I discovered that the bowls had a pale BLUE hue to them. After examining them under different lighting situations and then comparing them side-by-side with my older stock -YES- they are indeed somewhat BLUE (as referenced by another buyer in the QUESTIONS section of AMAZON REVIEWS). Personally, BLUE does not fit into my decor or wardrobe. I just don't care for BLUE!Sad and disappointed, I packed up these "bluish" bowls and summoned the UPS man to return them to AMAZON. Perhaps somewhat else with an affinity for blue will enjoy these hardy kitchen bowls. As for me, I'll just have to search elsewhere for my "replacement" bowls.Love the bowls! Only issue is I received a random green lid :/ instead of all blues as advertised.I love these bowls. I already had a set that I use constantly - it's great for mixing and serving and it's fine in the microwave. I've never used it in the oven but I see from the other reviews that that works too, which makes it worth 6 stars. I bought another set when my big bowl hit the pavement in the parking lot. I just didn't like to be without this set of bowls, though I have plenty of other bowls. These are my "go-to" bowls for just about everything.I love these pyrex bowls! I know that I can count on pyrex products to be sturdy and long lasting. These bowls come with lids which is an added benefit.I really love these, their nice thick bowls. I got them for my parents but my mom is in her 70's and has issue trying to open them, I wish their would be some kinda lip on them. But other then that I love the different color lids and I understand about the bowls going from cold to hot or they could crack....:)Classy minimalist design makes these bowls nice enough to put on the table to serve from. Everything is dishwasher safe and microwave safe (why get anything that isn't?), and the bowls can go in the oven too. The bowls nest, so they don't take up much cabinet space.I am a big fan of pyrex with lids. I prefer glass containers to plastic, especially when I will be reheating food in them. I also like that it prevents waste--my household takes about 3 years to go through a roll of plastic wrap.
